Adi Cohen- HW May 17

Our printed books finally arrived .
I must ay tho the binding is very nice and the book looks very well put together , the blurb printed version is darker than the one we printed at kinkos . The type is very hard to see on this version vs the kinkos version and the screen . Also it seems that some of the images lost a lot of detail especially with the eyes , which pretty much takes away from the whole concept of the book . As for the cropping of the images , we didn’t lose any detail .
Over all , blurb is a nice and easy way to produce your own book , just need to keep in mind that the images will be darker when printed with them .
As for communication and working in a team . I enjoyed working with Dalton and Henairy , the work load was divided equally between the three of us and since we were open to listen to each others ideas and suggestions we didn’t have any conflicts .

Quinique Dozier on Final

After seeing our book yesterday with Marlin I like how our colors came out. That was my biggest concern because it’s a children book. They cut off my pot a little and I wasn’t too happy about that. Our plan of how the book was suppose to come out were fairly met. I like how our colors relating to our story were cohesive. At first we were using a border around our pages to tie them al together. Then we figured images around the text. Then we  figured text, text, text, image which would tie our layout of our stories together. We spent entirely too much time thinking about new ideas when we already had one set. If we would’ve stuck with our original idea, I think our book would be more cohesive. I was a little disappointed about how some of my group members handled their responsibility and the role they played. Our attitudes came into play a little bit more than I expected. It was very hard to please a person if they don’t speak on the issue of what they want. I figured we could’ve took this book to a whole other level, but I’m happy that everything in our book is original. My role was to make sure the book colors go accordingly and who’s story should go first. If I had to do this process all over again I would probably work by myself or just with one other person. I figured this way I would only have to worry about being on the same page with one other person and vice versa. it would be better to understand their aspect and meet their needs. Our colors worked best because we picked up where one person left off. I’m happy with our project overall it was fun even with the small mishaps. If we had more time (a week) I know we’d have a better finished product.

Between Worlds is the title of our book. The concept of our book was to use old and new technology and illustrate the differences. The overlook of the printed book came out good. The colors came out good. I like everyone’s design. We did have some few set backs and disappointments as far as communication. The biggest issue I face was trying to get all the images together so I could link them on indesign and send it to the printer so the pictures don’t look pixelated.  In addition when i went to the printer, they told me some of the images would be cut in so i had to reset the document size. The binding I was not a fan of. We should have gone with saddle stitched. I think if we had more time, things could have been better. I learn you have to work through issues. Things happen, there will always be technical difficulties. What it comes down to at the end is time and team work. Its hard not to bump heads when everyone has different ideas and things going on but thats what happens and in this field, you just need to learn to get past it.

The book doesn’t come out what we expected because we had issue with Blurb and we decided to print it at Remsem. Supposedly, we wanted it to be perfect bind and a spread.  But, Remsem doesn’t do perfect bind and we needed to have it with spiral bind.  Also, we didn’t set it as a booklet, it ended up to be individual pages instead of spread.  However, the colors came out pretty good as hat we expected.

We were planned to make this story book to be 3D with pop out, but the cost of it is pretty expensive and not much companies have the material to do so, too.  So for my part, I just embossed some images to make them to have a depth which can make it slightly to have some how of pop up.

Since we only have around 2 – 3 weeks to finish the project, each of us were assigned to do our own parts; which is to wrote a story and drew our own characters and other mages in Illustrator.  I finished my parts in the first week, and just needed to wait for my group members to finish theirs and put it together.   I think we got along pretty well, everything went kind of smooth although we had some issue choosing a theme in the beginning.  Last, it was a great experience somehow.

Final project may 17 jasmin santana

the book is looking good overall.the colors are more nice that i was thinking it would be from the book it come from.all the pages in the book are looking just fine .we did not lost any important edges or have any white space. margins and bleeds are fine.the thickness and weight are good for the book.it is like a magazine paper so is perfect for the images .overall design is good but a small size of the book would be ever better looking.
The way my group work together i will said that for most part i will prefer two person only just because i don’t like to babysit people.however natalia my favorite in the whole world person help me to deal it.
What i can said about my role i did one of side book, the layout of the book, and so far i send it to print. final outcome of the book is fine i will not change nothing. The book best part is the images they look really good. I’m please with the result overall . Very happy after all.

Homework for May 17 Natalia Mager

This Wednesday I saw our work printed first time. It feels so good to have finished product book in my hands. We have some misunderstanding who going to print it, but as I saw Jasmine’s version, we decided to stick with it. My role was to design four pages it means for objects where I can use all my fantasy, then I uploaded the pdf for our group.
Overall I am very satisfied and it is exactly same as I expected. The size is just right, the soft cover came out perfect, and the perfect binding is excellent for our book design. The layout of the book, work very well. We did not lost any pages or areas where the color is muted or compromised.
There are a couple of things I would have done differently: I feel I would like little smaller size in order it to be perfect if you want to carry it around with you in the pocket. Then definitely add more pages with the design. And make our group to work more organized together.
If talk about colors on a computer screen will almost always look different from an actual print. A printed picture will come out darker then a lite computer screen. The book feels like a professional printed book. The texture of the paper feels like a magazine. May be it should be more thick next time. If I would started overall again I would just add 100 more pages, cause it very interesting to look at ☺
